Job and Volunteer Positions

Job Opening

We are seeking a Personal Agent (Case Manager) to join our team.

Overview

Personal Agents have a caseload of 36 to 40 adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The individuals we support live in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties, and they reflect the diverse fabric of these communities. People experience disability across class, race, gender, and ethnic identities. Some of the people we serve live with their families or friends, others experience homelessness, and others live in their own homes and apartments. We work with people who experience a wide array of disabilities, and some may also experience mental health conditions and addictions.

This is a 40-hour a week non-exempt position. Typical schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm but may vary depending on customers’ needs. Additional hours may occasionally be required.

During your training period, you will be required to work at our office located in inner SE Portland on a regular basis. Once you are fully trained, you may have the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

Personal Agents assist individuals (and their support teams) to:

  • Advocate with and on behalf of the people on their caseload.

  • Navigate the support services system, using person-centered planning techniques to assess their needs and develop plans and goals.

  • Secure resources and services, in areas such as employment, housing, crisis, and direct support providers.

  • Address health and safety needs.

  • Provide problem-solving, sometimes on an urgent basis

  • Manage intensive paperwork, including plan development, progress notes, needs assessments, and correspondence via phone calls, email, text, and mail.

  • Monitor the quality of services, and ensure choice and independence.

Don’t think you meet all the qualifications? Let us decide! Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job and that candidate may come from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences. If you're interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role, even if you believe you do not meet all of the hiring criteria described above.
