The Self-Advocate Guide to I/DD Services
A new resource is available from Oregon’s Department of Human Services (ODHS): The Self-Advocate Guide to Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Services. The guide is a comprehensive tool designed to help individuals:
Advocate for themselves.
Learn about I/DD services.
Prepare for service planning.
Understand and participate in the Oregon Needs Assessment (ONA).
Develop their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
Take action if their support needs aren’t being met.
The guide was developed by ODHS, in collaboration with self-advocates and the Oregon Self-Advocacy Coalition (OSAC).
Access the Guide:
The guide is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Somali, and Vietnamese. The guide can be made available in other languages or formats upon request.
Find Resources:
Check out this series of instructional YouTube videos designed to help you use the guide. ODHS and OSAC are also preparing a series of Zoom trainings led by self-advocates, focusing on each chapter of the guide.

ODHS is hosting monthly feedback sessions for self-advocates and those they invite to support them. Register to join the next session!
